Starrett 6" combination square
I use my Starrett 6″ combo square almost every time I mark up a piece of wood. It’s reliable. It’s comfortable. It’s accurate. It’s well made. I can’t really say much more than that. The Starrett combination square is as close to perfection in a measuring and layout tool as you can get.
For mine I purchased a 6″ imperial 4-R rule, specially imported, and it transformed the tool for me. No longer was I continually removing and flipping the metric/imperial rule to measure in inches properly, but then I like to work in inches. If you’re a metric woodworker, you have my sympathy.
